Europe's protected natural areas, on the map

142.360 nationally designated areas and 27.173 Natura 2000 sites, in 38 countries, on a single map. For 16.003 sites the managing body is there too. Before you fly, you know where you are and whom to ask.

What is here, and what is not

Each area gives its name, its designation (national park, reserve, bird protection area…), the IUCN category where one exists, and the competent authority or managing body. For Natura 2000 sites designated for birds, the nesting season.

The rules are written by the authority: you will not find “allowed” or “forbidden” here. You find where you are and who decides. With an account you also see the body's email and an authorisation request already drafted in its language, to send from your own mailbox.

National drone maps, almost everywhere, do not show these areas: in twenty of thirty-two countries the ban lives in the nature act or in the park's own rules, and the fine still arrives, often from a video.

A country is covered when we hold both sources: Natura 2000 and the national designations. Outside the EU the second is enough. The United Kingdom is not in the 2026 public dataset.
